Recently in the New Zealand parliament, the Climate Change Response Amendment Bill was introduced. This Bill sets out a plan for the improvement of New Zealand’s sustainability for the next 30 years. It plans to safeguard the future for the next generations. The government aims for all green house gases, except methane to net zero by 2050. And plans to reduce 10% of methane emissions by 2030. This all happened because Bill Shaw (the climate change minister in New Zealand) took notice of the world climate strike that occurred on March 15 2019.
This just shows how much these climate strikes matter! 🌎 The government would have delayed taking action but they saw the young people of this world unite and it made them open their eyes. Thank you @gretathunberg for showing the world that if we stand together we can make a difference. Please join the next climate strike on May 24 or any strike near you to help push for further change!! ⠀⠀
