NHS Superheroes

Morale is low and the NHS is close to breaking point. The pandemic is now at its worse in the UK and medical staff are facing
abuse and contempt from people with their conspiracy theories and refusal to accept any sort of social distancing or mask wearing.

There are still people who will be for ever thankful to our NHS Superheroes, and I am one of them, but I do feel that this problem is with us not because of bad handling by the government (and it could have been a lot better) but due to the fact that so many people are just ignoring any advice that is given to them

The area of Wales that missed coronavirus - and the simple system it set up

One big difference that sets #Ceredigion apart was that even before it had recorded its first case of Covid-19, it had set up a "homemade" in-house test track and trace system.

The man behind it, Barry Rees, the corporate director for Ceredigion Council, is a scientist by training. He believes contact tracing is the only way of "pursuing the #disease then rather than following it".

Is this the reason for why the county has emerged unscathed? Has a simple contact tracing system saved hundreds of lives?

iFixit launches massive repair database for ventilators and other medical devices - The Verge

Teardown and repair website iFixit has just posted what its CEO Kyle Wiens says is “the most comprehensive online resource for medical repair professionals.” The new database contains dedicated sections for clinical, laboratory, and medical support equipment, in addition to numerous other categories of devices. It also provides more than 13,000 manuals from hundreds of medical device manufacturers.

Wiens says the effort began with a crowdsourcing campaign to collect repair information for hospital equipment, with a focus on “ventilator documentation, anesthesia systems, and respiratory analyzers — devices widely used to support COVID-19 patients.” But the effort grew from there, spanning more than two months as iFixit added dozens more staff members to the project; began talking to more biomedical technicians, doctors, and nurses about their day-to-day needs; and started collecting and cataloging information from libraries and other sources.

Norway Is Closed: PM Takes Drastic Measures to Stop Coronavirus

The Norwegian Prime Minister announced the most drastic set of measures ever seen outside of wartime in an attempt to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Millions of Norwegians and foreigners living in or visiting Norway will be impacted by a drastic set of measures announced by Erna Solberg today. Norway is essentially shutting itself down for two weeks, in a bid to stop the rapid spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19 disease.

Google's Secret Cache of Medical Data Includes Names & Full Details of Millions – Whistleblower

A whistleblower who works in #ProjectNightingale, the secret transfer of the personal medical data of up to 50 million Americans from one of the largest healthcare providers in the US to Google, has expressed anger to the Guardian that patients are being kept in the dark about the massive deal.

There are 4 Pillars in Google's plans for the medical data they are aquiring on 10's of millions of people.

A summery of the 4th Pillar:

Google uses data to:

-Mine patient info
- Run analytics
- Run AI algorithms
- Sell or share data with 3rd parties
- Create profiles of patients that they can later advertise to online with healthcare ads targeted to individual's specific healthcare issues.

Patients haven’t been ...
- Told how #Ascension is using their data
- Have not consented to their data being transferred to the cloud or being used by Google.

Study Finds Nearly 400 Medical Devices, Procedures And Practices That Are Ineffective

When a medical treatment, device or procedure is no better than previous or lesser alternatives, it's deemed a 'medical reversal'. These discredited practices are a major barrier to better and cheaper healthcare, but actually identifying them is surprisingly difficult and rarely done.

A recent study, designed to create a more comprehensive list, has unearthed nearly 400 established treatments, devices and procedures that fit this bill.

"We hope our broad results may serve as a starting point for researchers, policy makers and payers who wish to have a list of practices that likely offer no net benefit to use in future work," says hematologist-oncologist Vinay Prasad from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), who helped coin the term 'medical reversal'.

The findings are based on more than 15 years of randomised controlled trials, a type of research that aims to reduce bias when testing new treatments. Across 3,000 articles in three leading medical journals from the UK and the US, the authors found 396 reversals.

Right.
This is the whole point. Scientists are not out there, working every day to screw us over.

#medical #science works on #vaccination for our #health, while #quacks, possibly inspired by foreign regimes, want you to believe in #fake-news. #unfounded #fear is used to spread #illness in the #population and weaken our #society.

Who do you think will benefit from our gullibility?
