Effects of exercise on cellular and tissue aging

source: https://www.aging-us.com/article/203051/pdf
ABSTRACT
The natural aging process is carried out by a progressive loss of homeostasis leading to a functional decline in
cells and tissues. The accumulation of these changes stem from a multifactorial process on which both external
(environmental and social) and internal (genetic and biological) risk factors contribute to the development of
adult chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). Strategies that can slow cellular aging include
changes in diet, lifestyle and drugs that modulate intracellular signaling. Exercise is a promising lifestyle
intervention that has shown antiaging effects by extending lifespan and healthspan through decreasing the
nine hallmarks of aging and age-associated inflammation. Herein, we review the effects of exercise to
attenuate aging from a clinical to a cellular level, listing its effects upon various tissues and systems as well as
its capacity to reverse many of the hallmarks of aging. Additionally, we suggest AMPK as a central regulator of
the cellular effects of exercise due to its integrative effects in different tissues. These concepts are especially
relevant in the setting of T2D, where cellular aging is accelerated and exercise can counteract these effects
through the reviewed antiaging mechanisms.

I wish I could find a #SecretRoom to #sleep in, and I could come go as I pleased, any hour of the day or night. That's all I want. Well, I want climate control and #internet access. But that's it. I want running #water and a toilet and a shower. But that's all. And a small #kitchen. I want an #efficiency apartment in a building that is otherwise abandoned. A #hotel room in an abandoned hotel. Even a #prison cell is fine if I can come and go. I know that this can exist for like… $50/month. We spend more money to make things worse for each other. We are going out of our way to make our lives worse, so we can convince people that they are human fucking garbage, so as to extract more #labor from them. It's sick. We need to tear it all down somehow, but we are trapped. There's no way anyone can get out alone. And if you try to team up with people, none of it matters. No matter what you do, you are fucked, forever. There is no way out. If you make a million dollars, or ten million, they will find a way to take it all from you. There is no way to recover your #youth. There is no cure for #depression. None. Some people are happy for no reason. Some people are sad, and there's no way out. No. Whatever you are thinking. No. #Exercise? No. #Pills. No. #Community? No. Nothing. Some people are fucking #worthless, #human #garbage. More and more of us, in fact, every day. And it's going to get worse and worse. It has been, and there is no way to stop it. There is not a person alive who can do a thing for me. I am worthless, human garbage. If I could press some button that would kill 95% of the people on the planet I would press it like a #crosswalk.

Keep on Walking

I may be an old geezer, but I still like to do a couple of miles walk each morning. Most people I meet will respect social distancing, but there are still a few inconsiderate people who seem oblivious to what is going on around them. Do you exercise, and how are you finding things?
