Hello and a big welcome

to everyone new to diaspora\*

We're so pleased that you've decided to give diaspora\* a try. It's fantastic that you've joined us!

We hope that you quickly find your way here, and enjoy getting connected with people and content.

Here's a few tips for getting started:
  • There are some step-by-step tutorials on our project website covering the basics of how diaspora* works, and how to get connected with people. There's a link to these in the side-bar, should you ever want to read them in future, and there's also an in-app Help section you can access through your user menu (at the right-hand end of the header bar).
  • You can search for people by name or by diaspora* ID (which looks like an email address), if you know it, from the search field in the header bar. You can invite people to join you in diaspora* by sending them a link to our project website, from where they can choose their own pod to register with. Your friends don't need to be on the same pod as you in order to connect and communicate with you.
  • One good way to start getting connected with people is to start following some #tags of subjects that interest you (maybe #music, #photography, #linux, or #activism ... whatever interests you) so that you will see content on those topics in your stream. You can then start following people whose posts you find interesting, by placing them into one of your aspects.
  • If you have any questions, post something with the #question or #help tag, and people will try to help you. Make sure to make your post public so anyone who can help is able to see it!
diaspora\* has some very simple community guidelines, which we hope everyone will feel able to follow so that all members can have the best possible experience here.

We're trying to improve diaspora* all the time, fixing bugs, honing performance and adding new features. But how fast we can do this is limited by the time developers have. To improve diaspora* faster, we need more developers! If you've just signed up and can code, or know someone who can and who might be interested in joining our team, get in touch!

I see that more and more (climate) activist groups are using #Telegram. I worry about this. Please read why:

- Telegram groups are not end-to-end encrypted.

- Meta-data: Telegram can see who are a group member.

- Although they say the messages are encrypted on their servers (with a home-made encryption protocol), they are the ones having the keys, so in theory they can also see what’s said in the group.

- There are examples of groups that were deleted by Telegram. Although these where ISIS and criminal groups, remember that Telegram has the power to do this.

- You can only sign-up with your phone number.

- Only the Telegram clients (apps) are open source, not the code they use on their servers.

- Telegram is founded, owned and funded by the Russian billionaire Pavel Durov. Although he’s anti-Putin, he’s a (American style) libertarian and of course a capitalist.

Please find something better folks!

What’s wrong with taking knee? In many countries people put their hand on their heart, take hat off, pose in a very emotional manner or even cry when their national anthem (a song!) plays even before a f… sport game. @ghose [D*]... What’s wrong with my offer to suck my cock? … In many western or eastern countries billions of lgbt-activists have a good old tradition to do it! This process is pleasant, safe… warrantable by law and supported by State!

INFOSEC: FUCK YOUR '"BLACK/WHITE NEUTRALITY"!

By Catalin Cimpanu for Zero Day | July 4, 2020

The information security (infosec) community has angrily reacted today to calls to abandon the use of the 'black hat' and 'white hat' terms, citing that the two, and especially 'black hat,' have nothing to do with racial stereotyping.

Discussions about the topic started late last night after David Kleidermacher, VP of Engineering at Google, and in charge of Android Security and the Google Play Store, withdrew from a scheduled talk he was set to give in August at the Black Hat USA 2020 security conference.

In his withdrawal announcement, Kleidermacher asked the infosec industry to consider replacing terms like black hat, white hat, and man-in-the-middle with neutral alternatives.

These changes remove harmful associations, promote inclusion, and help us break down walls of unconscious bias. Not everyone agrees which terms to change, but I feel strongly our language needs to (this one in particular).

— David Kleidermacher (@DaveKSecure) July 3, 2020

While Kleidermacher only asked the industry to consider changing these terms, several members mistook his statement as a direct request to the Black Hat conference to change its name.

With Black Hat being the biggest event in cyber-security, online discussions on the topic quickly became widespread among cyber-security experts, dominating the July 4th weekend.

While a part of the infosec community agreed with Kledermacher, the vast majority did not, and called it virtue signaling taken to the extreme.

Most security researchers pointed to the fact that the terms had nothing to do with racism or skin color, and had their origins in classic western movies, where the villain usually wore a black hat, while the good guy wore a white hat.

Others pointed to the dualism between black and white as representing evil and good, concepts that have been around since the dawn of civilizations, long before racial divides even existed between humans.

Right now, the infosec community doesn't seem to be willing to abandon the two terms, which they don't see as a problem when used in infosec-related writings.

The flagrant fact of racism: "White begin and always win"... or Why black king always suck?

If you are worried that the game of chess is racist, please take up Go, where black moves first, instead of looking foolish by wasting taxpayer money at a state broadcaster to "investigate" it!

(Garry Kasparov, a Russian chess grandmaster, former World Chess Champion, writer, and political activist, whom many consider to be the greatest chess player of all time)

John Adams slams ABC Sydney radio show for discussion over whether chess is ‘racist’

A Sydney radio station has come under fire from a former player for organising a segment to discuss whether chess was racist.

Former Australian chess representative John Adams has slammed the ABC for organising a radio segment discussing whether the popular board game is racist.

Professional economist Adams received a call from a Sydney-based ABC producer on Tuesday asking whether the game was racist because white always moves first.

“I just received a phone call from an ABC Sydney based producer seeking a comment about the game of chess,” Adams posted to Twitter.

“The ABC have taken the view that chess is RACIST given that white always go first!“

“They are seeking comment from a chess official as to whether the rules of chess need to be altered!“

“Trust the taxpayer-funded national broadcaster to apply ideological Marxist frameworks to anything and everything in Australia!“

“With all the drama resulting from COVID-19, I am amazed that the ABC is broadcasting on irrelevant topics!”

— John Adams (@adamseconomics) June 23, 2020

Teaching my child to play chess this week and it was proposed to me that I should change the rule that says “white always gets to go first”. Please help me understand whether this is a long-overdue correction of past injustice, or just political correctness gone mad.

— Stuart Khan (@stukhan) June 22, 2020

The Daily Telegraph reported James Valentine’s afternoon program on ABC Sydney would run the segment on Wednesday.

The move comes amid a wider debate about racist attitudes in society sparked by the death of African-American man George Floyd in the US at the hands of a white police officer.

The ensuing protests have led many to question their own behaviour and seen statues toppled, episodes removed from streaming services and brand names such as ”Redskins” changed.

But Adams condemned the ABC for not focusing on “bigger issues” amid a global health pandemic, accusing the radio broadcaster of reporting “bulls”.

“They said with everything going on, they wanted to have a conversation about white going first — and the racial context of whether white should go first,” Adams told The Daily Telegraph.

“The response to the tweet showed that common sense is prevailing. People want the national broadcaster to focus on bigger issues.

“People are struggling with the economy, with their health, with the lockdown. They don’t want their money wasted on bulls
.”

MORE 'Senior janitor', 'Major yardman', 'Leading dishwasher' and 'Chief servant'! .... or "Microsoft: Addressing racial injustice"

N.B.! Sounds strange: I have always believed that to achieve the best performance and quality, every company needs good specialists, not black, white or brown idlers.

Addressing racial injustice

Jun 23, 2020
Microsoft Corporate Blogs

An email from CEO Satya Nadella to Microsoft employees:

As I shared in our Employee Town Hall last month, and in my email earlier this month, we are committed to take action to help address racial injustice and inequity, and unequivocally believe that Black lives matter. Below you will see many of the steps we are taking.

Over the past several weeks, the senior leadership team, board of directors, and I have spent time reflecting, listening, learning, and discussing what role the company – and all of us collectively – must play in helping to drive change, both within Microsoft and in our communities. With significant input from employees and leaders who are members of the Black and African American community, we have developed a set of actions that we believe are both meaningful to improving the lived experience at Microsoft, as well as driving change in the communities in which we live and work.

Today, we are making commitments to address racial injustice and inequity for the Black and African American community in the United States. We will additionally take important steps to address the needs of other communities, including the Hispanic and Latinx community, across the company in the next five years. We are focused on three multiyear, sustained efforts:

- Increasing our representation and culture of inclusion. We will build on our diversity and inclusion (D&I) momentum from the past five years by adding an additional $150M of D&I investment, and will double the number of Black and African American people managers, senior individual contributors, and senior leaders in the United States by 2025.

- Engaging our ecosystem. We will use our balance sheet and engagement with suppliers and partners to extend the vision for societal change throughout our ecosystem, creating new opportunities for them and the communities they serve.

- Strengthening our communities. We will use the power of data, technology, and partnership to help improve the lives of Black and African American citizens across our country, including to address the safety and well-being of our own employees in the communities in which they live.

Below are key details on how we will accomplish this.

Our Culture

We need to ensure that our culture of inclusion is a top priority for everyone. It starts with our values of respect, integrity, and accountability. Each of us must be able to thrive in diverse teams. Every manager must be able to attract, retain, and grow employees of all backgrounds. This is certainly true at Microsoft, and also more broadly. It is the new baseline for manager excellence across industries across the globe.

We will meet this new goal in three key ways:

1. We will accelerate our cultural transformation through further investment in inclusion. Managers who have a deep understanding and commitment to building inclusive culture are key to our company’s success. Starting in FY21, our training on allyship, covering, and privilege in the workplace will be required for all employees, with additional new content on understanding the experience of the Black and African American community. Because leadership sets the tone, we will have required live sessions for CVPs and EVPs to ensure they better understand the lived experience of these specific communities.

2. We will strengthen our intentional career planning and talent development efforts. This will apply across our workforce, beginning with Black and African American employees. These programs will expand to include other employee groups as we learn and grow. We will expand on our leadership development programs for select Black and African American midlevel employees and their managers, to help prepare for promotion to Director/Principal. For Director/Principal level, we will create a new development opportunity to expose them to the leadership expectations of the Partner/GM level and match them with senior-level sponsors and mentors. For Partner/GMs, we are continuing to invest in the dedicated leadership development programs.

3. We will further strengthen company accountability for progress on representation. We will deepen our practice of evaluating each CVP/GM’s progress on diversity and inclusion when determining their impact and rewards, as well as promotion considerations. We will provide CVPs with dedicated D&I coaches to confront and resolve systemic obstacles within their organizations. We will expand our global, quarterly promotion process to ensure we build diverse leadership teams at all levels. This will include direct engagement with business leaders on review of all candidates for people management, Director/Principal level, and Partner/GM level.

Our Ecosystem

A vast business ecosystem surrounds Microsoft from our supply chain to our partner community. We recognize that a stronger and more productive ecosystem requires better representation of the diversity in our communities. We will evolve our engagement with our supply chain, banking partners, and the broad Microsoft partner ecosystem in this effort.

1. We will double the number of Black- and African American-owned approved suppliers over the next three years and spend an incremental $500M with those existing and new suppliers. We’ll do this by ensuring our existing guidance to include diverse minority-owned suppliers in all RFPs is well understood, evaluate supplier portfolio composition, and enhance the weighting of diversity characteristics (both in ownership and in broad workforce) during the supplier evaluation and selection process. We will also encourage Black and African American representation progress in our top 100 suppliers, which account for over 50 percent of our indirect spend, by requesting annual disclosure of their diversity profile information (e.g., workforce diversity, goals) that we will incorporate into our RFP evaluations.

2. We will use our own banking needs to grow our portfolio investment activity with Black- and African American-owned financial institutions. Over the next three years, we will double the percentage of our transaction volumes through these Black- and African-American owned banks and external managers where we have existing strong banking relationships and look to grow that base, which provides an increased opportunity for these firms to attract more capital. We will create a $100M program that will make its initial investment in collaboration with the FDIC to target Minority Owned Depository

3. Institutions (MDIs), which directly enables an increase of funds into local communities (businesses, restaurants, housing, etc.). And, we will establish a $50M investment fund focused on supporting Black- and African American-owned small businesses. The fund will initially focus on investing to improve access to capital, increase skill development, and reduce the technology gaps that exist today.

4. We know how important partners are to the growth of our business. We look forward to investing to increase the number of Black- and African American-owned partners in our US partner community by 20 percent over the next three years. A new $50M partner fund will help with access to capital providing loans to support these partners through their startup phase with the loans recovered over time as their business grows. We will provide $20M of financing to existing and new partners to support their cashflow needs. And, we will invest an additional $3M in training programs covering financial management, tech solutions, and go-to-market readiness.

Our Communities

No company can change the world by itself. But we believe that Microsoft can put the power of data, technology, and partnership to work to help improve the lives of Black and African American citizens across our country. That’s what we’re committed to doing, through a four-part effort.

1. We will strengthen and expand our existing justice reform initiative with a five-year, $50 million sustained effort. Since starting this work in 2017, we’ve come to appreciate the importance of this issue not only to the nation, but to the personal lives of our employees and their families. No one should have to live with the fear of being stopped by the police, harassed while shopping, or bullied in school because of the color of their skin. This conviction has led us to do increasing work advocating both in the Puget Sound and nationally, including in the communities where our employees live.We will build on this foundation by using data and digital technology toward increased transparency and accountability in our justice system. All this work will be backed by public policy advocacy that will increase access to data to identify racial disparities and improve policing. We’ll also use our technology and expertise to support evidenced-based and unbiased diversion programs that direct people into treatment alternatives instead of incarceration. We’ll also use data to promote racial equity in the decisions made by prosecutors, including decisions about who to charge with a crime, the nature of the charge, plea offers, and sentencing recommendations.

2. We will expand our skills work to help Black and African American students and adults develop the skills needed to succeed in the digital economy. Over the next five years, we will expand in 13 states and the District of Columbia the Microsoft TEALS industry volunteer program to bring computer science education to an additional 620 high schools primarily serving Black and African American students. We will also strengthen Microsoft’s support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, including in computer and data science programs, campus initiatives and partnerships, and curriculum development. Finally, we’ll offer digital skills training to Black and African American adults seeking new jobs. As part of a global skilling initiative, we will provide $5 million in cash grants to community-based nonprofit organizations led by and serving communities of color, enabling them to better support digital skills programs.

3. We will help expand access to broadband and devices for communities of color and the key institutions that support them in major urban centers, by working with carriers, OEMs, our own hardware team, refurbishers, and nonprofits to enrich low-cost broadband access by providing affordable PCs and Microsoft software. We’ll work to ensure these services can be put to effective use to improve people’s lives, with a focus on telehealth services and educational offerings. Backed by public advocacy, we’ll start by focusing on six cities that currently confront the largest urban broadband gaps.

4. Finally, we will increase technology support for nonprofits that support and are led by people of color. We will help support the digital transformation that we know from experience can make nonprofits more effective. We’ll provide access to Azure and Dynamics credits and financial grants that will enable these organizations to add the IT staff needed to better deploy and maximize technology. We look forward to tapping into the knowledge and expertise of our own employees as we identify effective groups we can support more strongly.

Change begins by looking inward. We expect this change in ourselves. Employees expect this change from their leaders. Our customers and partners expect this change from Microsoft. And the world demands this change.

This is not a one-time event. It will require real work and focus. We will listen and learn. We will take feedback and we will adjust. But it starts with each of us making a commitment to do the work, to help drive change, and to act with intention.

Satya

As the players of Manchester City and Burnley took a knee inside an empty Etihad Stadium in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, the sound of an aircraft could be heard overhead.

It had a very different message.

‘Gone With the Wind’ Hits No. 1 on Amazon Best-Sellers Chart After HBO Max Drops Movie

Cowardice in action. The next station is “Pulp Fiction”(?)

Jun 10, 2020
By Todd Sprangler

“Gone With the Wind” zipped to the top of Amazon’s best-sellers sales chart for TV and movies, a day after WarnerMedia’s HBO Max pulled the movie for “racist depictions.”

Amazon bases its rankings on sales data. The site currently offers the 70th anniversary two-disc DVD edition of “Gone With the Wind” starting at $29.55, while Amazon Video offers the movie as a digital HD rental at $3.99 and for purchase at $9.99. (...)

Oscar-winning film “Gone With the Wind” was removed Tuesday from the HBO Max streaming service temporarily. WarnerMedia said it plans to return to the movie to the library, along with a discussion about the historical context for the 1939 movie and a “denouncement” of the movie’s racist stereotypes.

“’Gone With The Wind’ is a product of its time and depicts some of the ethnic and racial prejudices that have, unfortunately, been commonplace in American society,” an HBO Max spokesperson told Variety. “These racist depictions were wrong then and are wrong today, and we felt that to keep this title up without an explanation and a denouncement of those depictions would be irresponsible.”

“Gone With the Wind” stars Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Hattie McDaniel and Olivia de Havilland. The film, adapted from the 1936 novel by Margaret Mitchell, is described on Amazon.com’s website as “a classic epic of the American South,” set during the Civil War and the Reconstruction era.

The movie, produced by David O. Selznick, won eight competitive Oscars including best picture, best actress for Leigh, best director for Victor Fleming and best supporting actress for McDaniel, who was the first Black person to ever win an Academy Award. The American Film Institute ranks “Gone With the Wind” as the No. 4 best American movie of all time, after “Citizen Kane,” “Casablanca,” and “The Godfather.”

The Wall Street Journal: "HBO Max Pulls ‘Gone With the Wind,’ While ‘Cops’ Gets Canceled".

Moves come as entertainment companies reassess their content amid nationwide protests over racial injustice and police brutality
By Joe Flint

[WIKI]

Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic historical romance film adapted from the 1936 novel by Margaret Mitchell. The film was produced by David O. Selznick of Selznick International Pictures and directed by Victor Fleming. Set in the American South against the backdrop of the American Civil War and the Reconstruction era, the film tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner. It follows her romantic pursuit of Ashley Wilkes, who is married to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton, and her subsequent marriage to Rhett Butler. The leading roles are played by Vivien Leigh (Scarlett), Clark Gable (Rhett), Leslie Howard (Ashley), and Olivia de Havilland (Melanie).

The film received positive reviews upon its release in December 1939, although some reviewers found it overlong. The casting was widely praised, and many reviewers found Leigh especially suited to her role as Scarlett. At the 12th Academy Awards, it received ten Academy Awards (eight competitive, two honorary) from thirteen nominations, including wins for Best Picture, Best Director (Fleming), Best Adapted Screenplay (posthumously awarded to Sidney Howard), Best Actress (Leigh), and Best Supporting Actress (Hattie McDaniel, becoming the first African American to win an Academy Award). It set records for the total number of wins and nominations at the time.

Gone with the Wind was immensely popular when first released. It became the highest-earning film made up to that point, and held the record for over a quarter of a century. When adjusted for monetary inflation, it is still the highest-grossing film in history. It was re-released periodically throughout the 20th century and became ingrained in popular culture. The film is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time; it has placed in the top ten of the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 American films since the list's inception in 1998. In 1989, the United States Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Urgent! Hot news: The brutal murder of the greatest Afro-Russian Poet!

The latest night of protests in New York City, Minneapolis, Denver, Phoenix and Columbus sparked by the death of the Great Afro-Russian Poet Alexander Pushkin at the hands of white rasist Georges d'Anthès was markedly calmer. Protesters destroy police property, tear a pages from his books and burn - to be blunt, all of them cannot read or write.

Festival and fireworks were dedicated to Pushkin's birthday, the 6th of June.

Trudeau takes knee at anti-racism protest. To rule Canada in this straight-out stance is more convenient and completely comfortable :)

Trudeau was met with both jeers and cheers. One protester yelled “Why haven’t you done anything, Justin?” Another protester handed him a T-shirt that said “Black Lives Matter” and “No Justice, No Peace.” Trudeau held the shirt during the protest but did not put it on.

N.B.! "blacklivesmatter"… White lives NO?

Bio-. nano-, organic-, anti-5G, holographic, quantum, green, non-GMO, anti-globalist (sexist, rapist, rasist, etc.) Shield - £339 only!

TL;DR: 128(!) Mb USB-stick

Rory Cellan-Jones
28 May 2020

Trading Standards squad targets anti-5G USB stick

Trading Standards officers are seeking to halt sales of a device that has been claimed to offer protection against the supposed dangers of 5G via use of quantum technology.

Cyber-security experts say the £339 5GBioShield appears to no more than a basic USB drive.

"We consider it to be a scam," Stephen Knight, operations director for London Trading Standards told the BBC.

His said his team is working with City of London Police's Action Fraud squad.

They are seeking a court order to take down the company's website.

"People who are vulnerable need protection from this kind of unscrupulous trading," he added.

The intervention follows an examination of the device, which was first reported by the BBC.

The vendor - BioShield Distribution - had previously said the device was backed by "research", but has not responded to the latest development.

'Holographic nano-layer catalyser'

The rollout of the new 5G mobile networks began in the UK only last summer and has not yet reached outside urban areas.

Yet across the country there is already a cottage industry offering protection against the supposed negative health effects, even though they have been dismissed by regulators and mainstream scientists.

The 5GBioShield was recommended by a member of Glastonbury Town Council's 5G Advisory Committee, which has called for an inquiry into 5G.

One of nine external members, Toby Hall, said: "We use this device and find it helpful," and provided a link to its website, which describes it as a USB key that "provides protection for your home and family, thanks to the wearable holographic nano-layer catalyser, which can be worn or placed near to a smartphone or any other electrical, radiation or EMF [electromagnetic field] emitting device".

"Through a process of quantum oscillation, the 5GBioShield USB key balances and re-harmonises the disturbing frequencies arising from the electric fog induced by devices, such as laptops, cordless phones, wi-fi, tablets, et cetera," it adds.

Each of these USB keys costs £339.60 including VAT, though there is a special offer of three for £958.80.

But, at first sight, it seems to be just that - a USB key, with just 128MB of storage.

"So what's different between it and a virtually identical 'crystal' USB key available from various suppliers in Shenzhen, China, for around £5 per key?" asks Ken Munro, whose company, Pen Test Partners, specialises in taking apart consumer electronic products to spot security vulnerabilities.

And the answer appears to be a circular sticker.

"Now, we're not 5G quantum experts but said sticker looks remarkably like one available in sheets from stationery suppliers for less than a penny each," he says.

'Time dilation'

Mr Munro and his colleague Phil Eveleigh proceeded to dismantle the USB key to find out if there were any whizz-bang electronics inside.

But all they found was an LED light on the circuit board, similar to those on any other USB key.

Their conclusion was that trading standards bodies should carry out their own investigations.

A search in Companies House shows the two directors of BioShield Distribution are Anna Grochowalska and Valerio Laghezza.

Both of them appear to have been involved previously in a business called Immortalis, which sells a dietary supplement called Klotho Formula.

Its website - rather similar in design to that of the BioShield - says Klotho Formula uses a "proprietary procedure that leads to relativistic time dilation and biological quantum entanglement at the DNA level".

'Sensitive information'

Ms Grochowalska told BBC News her company was the sole global distributor of the 5GBioShield - but it did not manufacture or own the product.

"We are in possession of a great deal of technical information, with plenty of back-up historical research," she said.

"As you can understand, we are not authorised to fully disclose all this sensitive information to third parties, for obvious reasons."

And she rejected the suggestion selling a £5 product for more than £300 was unreasonable.

"In regard to the costs analysis your research has produced, I believe that the lack of in-depth information will not drive you to the exact computation of our expenses and production costs, including the cost of IP [intellectual property rights], and so on," she said.

"It is therefore hard to take your evaluation seriously, since you have evidently not researched the background facts in any meaningful way."

The technical details and reverse engineering

[PenTest Partners]

(...) When plugged in to our test machine we may have missed the bubble of “quantum holographic catalyzer technology” appearing.

The stick comes loaded with a 25 page PDF version of the material from 5GbioShield ‘s website. It included a Q&A of distances for the “bubble” and how to know if it is working. It’s an “always on” system apparently, is always working, powered or not, so no visual checks needed.

A review of the stick’s properties revealed nothing more that what you’d expect from a regular 128MB USB key. We weren’t even sure that 128s are still in production! (...)

<3 diaspora\*

Commons

Reclaiming What Is Ours

The Commons is a documentary film about communities re-asserting sustainable futures using consensus, equity and shared resources – ancient Commons principles. The film shares the increasing privatization and destruction of commons, primarily in the United States, and shows how many activists are re-taking commons, re-establishing communities controlling heir own commons: maker spaces, land trusts, cooperatives, local food production and distribution, shared housing, free education, community centers – all as Commoners stewarding what they share.

During the making of the film, we found a re-awakening in progress. Tired of waiting for government, many Commoners are taking action to push back the tide of un-just privatization or the destruction of shared resources. People are working democratically, money is being re-imagined, new schools starting, co-operatives launching. Many – most – with the new idea of ‘Open Source’ deeply embedded in their planning. People are asking for sustainability, not destruction, sharing not privatization, and justice – not brutality.

We made this film because people needed to know that action was already underway, and much more was possible, to reclaim sovereignty over their Commons: the shared spaces and places, the wealth of the land, oceans and atmosphere, the internet and the ideas that are the heritage of life itself. People needed to know that it is both possible and successful to have a new kind of ‘Commons’ democracy, a self-governance based on consensus, justice, sharing, sustainability and goodwill.

We found there are already laws protecting the rights of Commoners. Many of these laws are the underpinning of our legal system itself…

But something deeper is happening

Everyone is restless – especially young people. Something inside us is calling for a better future – and people are unwilling to settle for the bleak future many fear. They understand deeply that the shared resources of the world are a human right, owned by all, not just a few – and that these resources are in peril.

We found that commons-based inspiration flows through people, especially young people, telling them not to settle for less than what they know is possible: to make that incredible future they see just ahead of humanity: vitality, goodwill, sharing – what Dr. Andreas Weber describes as ‘Enlivenment’

In many forms, people can see that vision of an amazing future for humanity – surrounded by the life of the planet.

Nine years in the making, we listened as 49 communities in the #Americas, #Europe, #Africa and south #Asia told us what has made their Commons work over the centuries.

The World is Over ! 2020: Year of the Rat or of the Last Judgment ?

It might sound like a dirty joke, but it isn't. It had been planned for a long time. Last year during the development of Pikadon http://horsnorme.org/PIKADON/pikadon.html , I told some friends about it. It was when I watched Michael Epstein's documentary on Yoko Ono and John Lennon that it hit me with all the weight of a revelation. Since the time of the « War is Over! » action, not only have wars not stopped, but there have never been so many wars in the world. So I wanted to do a somewhat special project.

Since many years, mystics have been repeating like a mantra that the Age of Choice has come. Likewise the charlatans and the blinded cry out emergency ... I would like to clarify in order to avoid any confusion, all those who cry out emergency are not charlatans! Indeed about the climate emergency and its consequences we take it every day in the teeth. Yet it is urgent ... to take the time. In the style of year 01 ( https://archive.org/details/lan01_202003 this version is in french with spanish subtitles I'll try to update it with an english one soon). We stop everything and ... we start. Start living. Do not start again because I do not believe that we can call living the state of alienation which was our daily lot until March 2020. Of course as all remarks this can be nuanced, we can object exceptions, Etc. In any case to stop, even if it remains imperfect; moreover the inequalities are shocking; I think that we’ve never come so close to this saving moment. When you can lift your head from the handlebars and realize how good it is, when nature takes back its place.

This afternoon my daughter-in-law pointed out to me that the light was dazzling outside. I realized that for years I doubted living in my original world, because in the one I knew as a child, you could not fix the sun without having to look away, instead of what it was simply because our society was swinging so much shit in the atmosphere, that it dimmed its luster. That's not all. We can even realize how isolated we were already before the lock down by walls, the most terrible of which is perhaps the theoretical absence of time, since the rule of the rigged game claims that we should sell our time life to survive. It wouldn't take much more for a larva to turn into a butterfly.

So what will we do if the bloodstained hands of the states close over us?

Will they have the slightest pity? Whereas a few months ago in france for example, the government sent copsS to beat and injury the medical personnel who demonstrated just for less catastrophic conditions in order to save lives. For me, there is no god, guide or government to save us, no scapegoat, no expert, I dream of us, emancipated. Alive. In the image of this solidarity which arises from the empathy which characterizes us and distinguishes us from those in power. When we choose to disobey their laws, for example to protect migrants or now, when we try to organize to act on their behalf. Developing alternative support networks.

So you can see this project as a musical game, a somewhat unusual April Fool. Or feel how serious what is at stake is. Realize what it means that some of your loved ones are murdered, whether out of incompetence or more or less intentionally, for example for the sake of profit. Do you want to wait for mediacracy to target a scapegoat and tell you stories to wash their hands. Or are you ready to use your renewed lucidity to ask yourself the same essential question that those who will participate in this musical project will ask themselves :

"The piece must imperatively correspond to a reason for humanity to continue or to stop."

Shall we continue or stop? Implied: are we letting our planet to be destroyed by the endless greed of a few ones or are we ending the nuisance of the current political system? A question which undoubtedly leads to many others.

Speaking of questioning, I imagine that by dint of beating around the bush, you must be divided between a legitimate exasperation or a certain discouragement, it is therefore more than time to explain myself a little better about what is the project "The World is Over! "

Originally, I intended to offer only a physical K7 version http://necktar.info/Over/ , which only concerned those who have already participated in Necktar 2017 https://archive.org/details/Necktar2017Volume6 or Pikadon, for a simple reason is that I will make these artisanal cassettes and even if I only send two per person with 1 minute 23 seconds, that's already a lot of cassettes! Fortunately, as I really have a tooth against exclusion, inspired by the example of the compilation of Fraction Studio ANDREAS 24 VIRUS. https://fractionstudiocompilation.bandcamp.com/album/andreas-n-24-virus-compilation-fraction-2020

I decided to also make a virtual version on Bandcamp where the songs will be added as they arrive.

What makes this project singular is its Citizen Initiative Referendum side, well, there is no ill-intentioned state to swing its propaganda or limit consultation voluntarily and thus bias the result, as was done with the ZAD of Notre-Dame-Des-Landes. Participants will send their audio arguments on B side https://zonefusion.bandcamp.com/album/the-world-is-over-b-side if they are in favor of the maintenance of humanity or A side https://yoshiwaku.bandcamp.com/album/the-world-is-over-a-side if they choose its extinction. We will see on which side the scales tip ... Maybe we will even be surprised to discover that it is not humanity, but its way of life that is the real object of judgment. Obviously, only I will not have the means to make this judgment effective. At the start, what seemed to me the most interesting was to question the certainty of the continuum. I was far from suspecting the unfortunate combination of circumstances that was going to happen, even if too often for my taste I have to face disturbing coincidences. https://youtu.be/uHGun3R2VOM

So, given the situation in which we have been living for several weeks, I was a little hesitant to launch this project fearing that it would sound like a dubious joke. But the Chinese government which divides at least ten the number of their victims, is it funny? And the French government unable to tax income above 250,000 euros to finance the public medical sector, when it would be a ray of hope for healthcare workers, is it funny? And the world government which uses COvid-19 to experiment on a large scale with its dystopia ... Ah no, sorry! There is no world government just the reign of incompetence on all stages of the profit pyramid if I believe Peter's principle and possibly a constellation of micro conspiracies on all stages.

In short, I hope not to seem radical, where there is only well-intentioned frankness, I can understand that it seems strange for who does not understand that some are its qualities commercial music will never have the incomparable quality of demonstrate in practice an alternative operating model. But honestly you'd have to be more crossed out than me to take this for humor.

The only certainty that I have is that we have to learn to dream again if we ever want to really get out of confinement.

«Hallo, Andersdenkende»: Aktivistin Seibt, 19.

Naomis Welt

19.02.2020
Von Roman Zeller

https://www.weltwoche.ch/ausgaben/2020-8/ausland/naomis-welt-die-weltwoche-ausgabe-8-2020.html

Naomi Seibt: “Climate change alarmism, at its very core, is a despicably anti-human ideology... “I think this entire climate mainstream narrative is not about science at all.”

Meet Naomi Seibt – The 19-Year-Old, Blond Antidote To Greta Thunberg

GRETA: “I want you to panic. “I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. And then I want you to act.”

NAOMI: Ich bin Naomi Seibt. Und nicht gegen Greta. Ich bin für die Meinungsfreiheit. I don’t want you to panic. I want you to think. (...) “Rage and panic belong to our opponents.”

... Some quotations

The Daily Dot:
"... It’s harder to come out as a conservative than as a sexual minority. She opines that people who come out as gay “would probably receive massive amounts of support... Coming out can still be a very tough thing to do. However, I’m not talking about coming out as gay, but coming out as non-leftist, coming out as conservative, or libertarian even.”

Seibt has also railed against feminism, arguing that measures intended to foster gender equality are “true sexism,” and that advancement is entirely merit-based in today’s society. She believes that feminism—the belief in gender equality—is detrimental to women:

“Feminism in the 21st century is attacking the confidence of young women.”

The Washington Post
“She’s a fantastic voice for free markets and for climate realism,” said James Taylor, director of the Arthur B. Robinson Center for Climate and Environmental Policy at the Heartland Institute, an influential libertarian think tank in suburban Chicago that has the ear of the Trump administration.

“I want you to panic,” she [Greta]told attendees at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last year. “I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. And then I want you to act.”

Naomi, for her part, argues that these predictions of dire consequences are exaggerated. In a video posted on Heartland’s website, she gazes into the camera and says, “I don’t want you to panic. I want you to think.”

Naomi said her political activism was sparked a few years ago when she began asking questions in school about Germany’s liberal immigration policies. She said the backlash from teachers and other students hardened her skepticism about mainstream German thinking. More recently, she said that watching young people joining weekly “Fridays For Future” protests inspired by Greta helped spur her opposition to climate change activism.

“I get chills when I see those young people, especially at Fridays for Future. They are screaming and shouting and they’re generally terrified,” she said in an interview.
InfoWars
“What the climate skeptics, or climate realists say, makes a lot of sense to me, scientifically.”

“And that’s how I became really passionate about the topic.”

“I think this entire climate mainstream narrative is not about science at all. Because I would say that more than 90% of the people, especially the young people, who go to those Fridays for Future protests, they have no clue what they’re actually talking about. They don’t know anything about the science behind it. All they know is, this is the mainstream, and they are actually scared many of them I think that the planet is going to end like 12 years from now. And so, this is not about science. This is about politics. This is about controlling us.”

MY OWN OPINION: VERY(!) WISE AND BRAVE GIRL!

DANKE, DEUTSCHLAND!

GRETINISM. Episode 3: "Monetisation", or "Thunberg patents own name"

https://www.wionews.com/world/greta-thunberg-files-application-to-patent-her-name-and-campaign-fridays-for-future-277459

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has applied to register her name and her global campaign ''Fridays For Future'' which she had founded in 2018.

The 17-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to express her annoyance and to inform her followers of the future course of action of her campaign.

"My name and the #FridaysForFuture movement are constantly being used for commercial purposes without any consent whatsoever," she wrote in a post she shared her Instagram account.

She complained that "there are still people who are trying to impersonate me or falsely claim that they 'represent' me in order to communicate with high profile people, politicians, media, artists etc."

There had also been incidents of marketing, selling products and collection of money "in my and the movement's name," she wrote.

"That is why I've applied to register my name, Fridays For Future as trademarks. This action is to protect the movement and its activities."

This move would allow legitimate action against persons or companies trying to hijack her name or the movement's which are not in line with its values.

"I assure you, I and the other school strikers have absolutely no interests in trademarks. But unfortunately, it needs to be done," she said on the social network.

She insisted that the foundation would be "completely transparent," for instance, with regard to the taxes it has to pay.

The great news for Greta and her young friends: "Green-piss" included with neo-Nazis on UK counter-terror list

A counter-terrorism police document distributed to medical staff and teachers as part of anti-extremism briefings included Greenpeace, Peta and other non-violent groups as well as neo-Nazis, the Guardian has learned.

The guide, produced by Counter Terrorism Policing, is used across England as part of training for Prevent, the anti-radicalisation scheme designed to catch those at risk of committing terrorist violence.

Last week, police said documents uncovered by the Guardian that listed the environmental protest group Extinction Rebellion (XR) alongside far-right extremists and jihadists were a local error.

But the list of groups viewed as a potential concern contained in the new 24-page document includes Extinction Rebellion. It also includes Greenpeace – among whose supporters are Dame Judi Dench, Stephen Fry, Gillian Anderson and Joanna Lumley – and the ocean pollution campaigners Sea Shepherd, whose supporters include Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. Also included is Stop the Badger Cull, which is backed by Sir Brian May, the Queen guitarist.

(...) The last page of an accompanying visual guide seen by the Guardian advises people to report “any concerns identified via this document” using an online portal for reporting suspicious activity that is operated by Counter Terrorism Policing under the slogan: “Action counters terrorism”.

80$ cardboard box… or How to sell bullshit for young Greta T. and her friends

Savannah design studio reimagines cardboard box as chair

Jennifer Hahn

28 November 2019

After more than a year of prototyping, Savannah studio Donttakethisthewrongway has unveiled its design for a chair that consists of a single cardboard box.

In order to make it stand the test of time, it has been carefully “over-engineered” to be resistant to both wear and water.

“I think a cardboard box has the potential of being a chair without trying to,” explained Eric Primo, one part of the three-man collective which also includes Nick Wargo and Crawford George.

“An accidental chair – maybe not better but a different kind of a chair,” he said. “It is strong yet light, and it is essentially always ‘packed’ so moving or shipping it is quite easy.”

Turning the cardboard box into a seating design that would meet the trio’s strict demands for quality and durability was a labour intensive process.

“We made several chair prototypes, all with varying structural components. They were used as chairs for over a year,” Primo told Dezeen.

“During that time, they were opened periodically to inspect their internal and external wear. We paid close attention to how each wore over time and tweaked the design based on what we learned.”

The final design takes the form of a simple cube in classic cardboard brown, adorned only with a few flourishes like the words “this closed box acts as a chair” emblazoned on the side, alongside signposting to help users discern the bottom from the top.

On the outside, the box reveals little of the days-long production process that goes into every piece.

“Each chair is handmade in our studio and begins as a double corrugated-cardboard-box die cut, that is then folded into shape,” said Primo.

“Custom scoring tools help form sharp corners and edges before each flap of the box is flattened using a foot roller to allow it to sit flat and square on the ground,” he continued. “The chair’s bottom flaps are then glued with PVA glue and pressed together.”

An internal cardboard grid structure is added for stability and to help the box keep its shape throughout use. Then, the other flaps are glued shut before a cushion is glued to the top, which is especially engineered to be both comfortable and resistant to denting.

“The cushion consists of three sheets of corrugated cardboard which are laser cut, flattened with a foot roller and glued separately with wood glue,” he explained.

“At each stage of the gluing process, boxes are clamped for 12 hours and after that they are sanded and the feet screen printed along with the other graphics.”

The trio tried out various water repellent coatings throughout the prototyping phase and finally settled on a silicon dioxide spray, which is added as the last step.

Also attached to the bottom is a shipping label, a nod to the role that cardboard boxes play in all of our lives.

Bon Appétit ... or The delicate smell of her cunt (75$ only!)

By Amanda Prestigiacomo
January 10th, 2020
Gywneth Paltrow Is Selling A Candle That Smells Like Her Vagina

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is selling a candle that smells like her vagina at $75 a pop for her lifestyle and wellness company Goop. The name of the candle is none other than, you guessed it, “This Smells Like My Vagina.”

Paltrow first came across a scent that she said reminded her of the smell of her own vagina, she claims. The scent was then finalized for the “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle, which reportedly sold out within hours of its test run.

“This candle started as a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and GP — the two were working on a fragrance, and she blurted out, ‘Uhhh … this smells like a vagina,'” Goop outlined.

The smell then “evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent,” according to the company.

“That turned out to be perfect as a candle — we did a test run … and it sold out within hours,” Goop bragged. “It’s a blend of geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed that puts us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth.”

Goop, clearly, is not a traditional brand. In 2018, for example, the wellness company settled a six-figure lawsuit surrounding their “vagina eggs,” which were promoted to help regulate females’ hormones and negate menstrual cramps.

“It turns out, contrary to Goop’s advice, shoving a large egg made out of a porous mineral into the recesses of your lady-regions may not be the best treatment for conditions like endometriosis,” The Daily Wire reported. “Apparently, Goop knew — or, according to a complaint filed by the California consumer protection office, Goop should have known before they marketed this product, as well as a ‘flower essence’ they claimed treated depression, to consumers on their website.”

“The health and money of Santa Clara County residents should never be put at risk by misleading advertising,” the attorney for the California consumer protection office said in a statement. “We will vigilantly protect consumers against companies that promise health benefits without the support of good science … or any science.”

Paltrow again made headlines for her “progressive” ways last month, this time for gifting herself a vibrator for Christmas.

The Daily Wire reported on the ad:

After Gwyneth shakes herself up a couple of Martinis, the narrator says “someone’s double-fisting” as she struts through the kitchen with her libations.

“The holidays are work, so don’t be afraid to ask for help with lighting, and food, and style, and hair, and hair, and hair,” the narrator cheekily continues. “Find your favorite look, or eleven of them. Look fabulous in each one, and get super high… In your heels, of course.”

The ad then takes a salacious turn by reminding people to treat themselves to a little self-service, but only after doing “something for others.”

“Do something for others but don’t forget about No. 1,” the narrator says as Paltrow pulls a vibrator from a Christmas stocking and keeps it for herself. “Yes, that is a vibrator.”

The ad finishes with the narrator wishing everyone a “happy holidays from G. Label.”
